Rising to the challenge, Paul Murdock President of MCG Consulting, initiated and achieved his personal social call-to-action “GoFundMe” campaign of $2,000.

Donations raised were contributed towards the support of Kalksteenfontein Primary School in Johannesburg, South Africa. “I am pleased to announce, with the help of many supporters, we recently donated funds for an educational experience to students from a primary school in Northern South Africa.”

In many countries around the world, education remains inaccessible for millions of children. Preventative factors include lack of funding, schools, teachers, and teaching materials. In his February 17, 2019, State of the Nation address, South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa said “78% of fourth-graders cannot read and understand a simple sentence”. Developing countries can’t rely solely on their own financing for education. Any assistance through charitable funding, donations, or sponsorships are necessary to help provide children with their basic rights to education.

A chance to see their country’s greatness

Mr. Murdock’s donation will give students an opportunity to visit Table Mountain or Robbin Island. They will travel to Cape Town, located in Southern South Africa.

Table Mountain is the most iconic landmark of South Africa and one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the world.

Robben Island is a World Heritage Site and museum. It provides vast insight into the political struggles and history of South Africa. Robben Island is also famous, or rather infamous, as the holding place for the imprisoned Nelson Mandela.

Not a one time experience

Mr. Murdock plans to make this GoFundMe campaign a biennial event with his next kick-off occurring in 2020. “Unfortunately, many black people living in South Africa may never have the opportunity to visit any of their own country’s most visited tourists attractions. By providing this experience to primary school students in Johannesburg, we are changing lives, one student at time.“
